Badminton lessons

On Thursday the 4th of August Room 22 went to the hall for badminton. Badminton is a game played on court with light long-handle racket used to volley a shuttlecock over a net. When we arrived at the hall are lady named Lauren from the Auckland badminton club was waiting for us. We sat down and listen to her instructions when she was finished each one of us went and got a racket. We all had to get five shuttlecocks and then stand around the bin trying to get your five shuttles into the bin.

Our first activity was trying to control the shuttle. Controlling the shuttle was very hard trying to balance it by hitting it up and catching it again. We tried doing it that we learnt are couple of times and then we moved on to the next activity. Another activity we done was catch the shuttle. You had to get into pairs your partner would have a racket and you will be holding a cone your partner will hit the shuttle and then you will have to try and catch it with the cone.

What i really liked about Badminton was that everyone of us had fun and we all couldn't wait for the next time we were going to have badminton. My favorite activity that we learnt was catching the shuttle with the cone , another favorite of mine was shuffle . You had to go with your partner that you had before. Then we would just normally play tennis but with shuttles just hitting it to your partner and back .
It was really fun and i cant wait to do it again.

Rugby League session

Yesterday morning Sio Siua Taueiaho from the 2011 junior warriors came to Point England school to teach our seniors some rugby league skills. When we got to the counts and our teacher put our class into four groups. Once we got into our groups we had to line up behind one other. After Sio explained to us of what to do he gave each group a ball.

We did relays up and down the counts for a few time. Our first game was called in and out what you had to do was try run as fast as you can Sig sagging thought the cones and the last person in your group why ever gets back first and sitting down wins. We played another game similar
to the first game but you had to Sig sag around your team members. After that person comes back and scores a try then the person at the back of the line will come to the fort then it will be they turn.

The next game we played was kick tennis. We joined group to play this game so that it could be even. You had to kick the ball to the opposite team and the other team had to try and couch the ball if you run away for you ball you are out if you kick it to high or to far and it goes out of the cones the your out. At the end of our rugby league session i was already tied but i really enjoyed it i can’t wait till next time.

Science roadshow

On Thursday the 9th , the year 7 & 8’s went down to Tamaki collage to watch the science roadshow. The reason why we went to the science roadshow is because it was part of our topic for the term. Before we left school our teacher Ms Tito put us into groups of six. We had to walk in our groups down to Tamaki collage. Once we got there the science roadshow had already started we quietly sat down with the rest of the student .

The people that were talking to us names were Paul and Jane. The thing they talked to us about was our senses like how we see and how we feel things. After that we got to go and play with some of the exhibits . Some of the exhibits were scary but some you just did’t know what to do.

One of my favourite exhibits was Quirky Curiosities. When you go to that exhibit you have to look through this pipe and there is a rocking chair. But when you turn the light on you can see a skeleton. But really it is just a ghost skeleton.

Overall it was really cool and I hope we can go the Science Roadshow again , or i could be one of those presenters presenting my work for other people.

Swimming

Every second term, year 7 & 8 go down to the Y.M.C.A pools for swimming lesson. All the seniors go down to the pools everyday for half an hour but Fridays for two weeks. I didn't go swimming for that whole two weeks as i didn’t feel like swimming. Every After lunch times we all head down to the pools altogether ready and lined up .

When we got to the pools and the people that were swimming had to get change and jump in the showers before getting into the pool. What i had to do was write lines because i didn’t bring a note for my reason why i wasn’t swimming . When i finished doing my lines i got to watch some of my friends swim.

When there finished swimming we all walked back to school and came back to class hopping next time i will remember to bring my togs or a note .
